The Opportunity
This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for recent graduates or individuals looking to begin a long-term career in the steel and construction industry. Available as either a permanent or casual role, this position offers structured training, hands-on experience, and ongoing mentorship from experienced industry professionals.
As a Trainee Detailer, you will learn the fundamentals of steel detailing while contributing to real projects in a supportive and collaborative environment. This role provides a clear pathway for skill development and career progression within the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of detailed drawings and plans for steel frame and truss structures
- Learn to interpret architectural and engineering drawings and specifications
- Work closely with senior detailers and project managers to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Utilise industry-specific detailing and drafting software
- Participate in structured training and hands-on project work
- Support the team with project documentation, records, and general administration
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team
- Basic understanding of engineering or construction drawings (desirable but not essential)
- Confident computer skills; exposure to CAD or detailing software is an advantage
- A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and genuine interest in the steel or construction industry
- Choice of permanent or casual employment
