The Opportunity
WATC are seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Officer to join their Finance, Administration and Treasury Operations team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will take ownership of accurate and timely financial accounting activities through to trial balance, including daily reconciliations and reporting that support WATC’s operations. This permanent role suits a self-managing professional who enjoys hands-on transactional accounting, works confidently to recurring deadlines, and is motivated to contribute to a high-performing team.
WATC are seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Officer to join their Finance, Administration and Treasury Operations team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will take ownership of accurate and timely financial accounting activities through to trial balance, including daily reconciliations and reporting that support WATC’s operations. Key activities include:
- Performing daily and month-end bank reconciliations and completing the daily profit and loss reconciliation process.
- Managing accounts receivable activities, client accounting files and foreign currency invoice approvals.
- Coordinating month-end processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations and other financial adjustments.
- Producing accurate monthly reporting through to a completed trial balance and supporting quarterly, statutory and management reporting.
- Maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, chart of accounts, fixed asset register and supporting accounting systems and procedures.
- Supporting tax compliance, year-end financial statements, internal and external audits, and the application of accounting standards.
- Contributing ideas and practical improvements to processes, documentation and team initiatives.
WATC’s ideal applicant is an organised and dependable accounting professional who combines strong technical capability with a practical, collaborative approach. You will be comfortable taking ownership of recurring daily deliverables, keeping stakeholders informed and maintaining accuracy during busy reporting periods.
If you can demonstrate the following capabilities and experience, we would love to hear from you:
- CA or CPA qualification (or equivalent) with current membership.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including the interpretation and application of Australian Accounting Standards.
- Demonstrated experience in financial accounting, reconciliations and reporting through to trial balance.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and confidence using financial accounting and related business systems.
- Ability to organise priorities, work autonomously and provide clear assurance that key deliverables are progressing.
- Constructive and professional communication skills, with the confidence to work closely with the Finance Manager and a range of internal stakeholders.
- A collaborative mindset, sound judgement and a genuine interest in improving efficiency, quality and productivity.
