The Opportunity
Following continued organisational growth, we are expanding our Advisory Services team and arepleased to offer this opportunity to join our ongoing investment in building capability and supporting the organisation’s future growth and success.
WATC’s Advisory Services team provides specialist expert financial advice to clients across the Western Australian government sector. Supporting the State, the team applies a corporate finance lens to a range of large projects, proposed initiatives, and transactions and undertake financial modelling and analysis to provide high-quality advice to our clients.
This role involves working at a strategic level with WATC’s clients, identifying business opportunities, managing unique engagements, mentoring dynamic project teams, and guiding complex financial modelling processes. The core focus of the role includes:
- Developing strategic relationships with clients to identify opportunities for growth.
- Leading client engagements and project teams to deliver high-quality advice.
- Conceptualising and guiding the creation of financial models for unique projects.
- Conducting rigorous impartial and considered financial analysis for client engagements.
- Mentoring, encouraging and coaching team members to enhance Advisory Services team capabilities.
- Analysing financing structures for public assets, public private partnerships, and major capital investment decisions, providing guidance to clients with a view to maximising value for the State.
- Undertaking quality assurance, and ensuring team members maintain and enhance complex integrated financial models.
About You

WATC’s ideal candidate will be a critical thinker with experience in building and maintaining relationships with key clients and can demonstrate a combination of the following skills, qualifications and experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in finance, or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience in an advisory services environment.
- Project management skills in a financial environment.
- Excellent understanding of financial modelling and model outputs.
- Creative financial problem solving and analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills within a client relationship context.
- A high level of intellectual curiosity.
- A flexible, ‘can-do’ attitude to work.
