The Company
This Australian based multinational rail maintenance company is a world leader in the field of rail maintenance, technology, diagnostics and rectification. All of their machinery is designed, manufactured and assembled in Western Australia. Continued growth and momentum has led to the requirement of a National Operations Manager.
The Role
The purpose of the National Operations Manager is to control and coordinate all of the Company’s operational contracts to ensure that assigned projects and works are completed to the client’s satisfaction, and to meet the company’s, clients and industry requirements to occupational health, safety and environmental, quality, time and profit objectives.
Key Responsibilities
The National Operations Manager will assist in tendering, proposals and submission of contracts, liaising with prospective customers and clients and planning the execution of service contracts. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Jointly with the MD and CFO remain financially responsible and accountable for the individual operations profitability.
- In conjunction with Site Managers, provide project vision, sets profit targets and project objectives for self, team, and company.
- In conjunction with the Site Managers review target programmes in line with internal requirements and external constraints.
- Ensure that a practical time control system for the project is maintained to achieve timely contractual completion.
- Contribute to the tender process by advising on planning, operational and risk issues.
- Establish and maintain a harmonious Client / Customer relationship to assist contract delivery and enhances Client satisfaction whilst protecting the Company and its interests.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification in Engineering, ideally Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years in a similar role. This role requires previous management experience, strong communication and a sound commercial understanding. As well as being an operational problem solver, there will need to be demonstrable experience in being a strategic operational leader. The successful candidate will present professionally, demonstrating ethical behaviour and the core values of the Company. This role requires visible leadership and therefore significant travel to operational hubs.
