The Opportunity

WATC is seeking a Communications and Marketing Officer to join its dynamic team to support the delivery of internal and external marketing and communication activities and initiatives.  
This role supports the wider Marketing and Communications team with the delivery of day-to-day operational activities, while also contributing to the development and implementation of a range of marketing and communication initiatives in line with agreed stakeholder marketing and communication plans.  
In assisting the Marketing and Communications team, key responsibilities include: 
  • Contributing to the timely delivery of corporate marketing and communication activities and initiatives. 
  • Assisting in the creation of engaging, brand-aligned content for internal and external audiences across various channels. 
  • Assisting in the maintenance and management of various channels. 
  • Assisting with the management and distribution of communications. 
  • Contributing to the timely publication of WATC reports, publications and presentations. 
  • Applying consistent standards of communication and branding across all channels. 
  • Providing support and advice to WATC staff on internal and external communications. 
  • Contributing to delivery of a calendar of corporate events. 
  • Contributing to a culture of collaboration and teamwork across the Marketing and Communications business unit and WATC more broadly.

About You 

Applicants for this role require an understanding of contemporary marketing and communication principles and practices. This role also requires someone with sound verbal and written communication skills, and people, relationship and organisational skills to work collaboratively with stakeholders in supporting the delivery of marketing and communications activities and initiatives.

  • Previous experience in supporting the delivery of marketing and communications initiatives and in writing and creating engaging content. 
  • Foundational spoken and written communications skills. 
  • Foundational people and relationship management skills. 
  • Foundational organisational skills. 
  • Foundational knowledge of general-purpose software tools (e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint and Dynamics), video editing, email marketing, desktop publishing/design tools (including Adobe suite of products), stakeholder management, and content management systems. 
  • Foundational understanding of contemporary marketing and communications principles and practices. 
  • Foundational internal and external channel management skills. 
  • Foundational design and creative skills.
