Our client is a fast growing ASX listed mineral exploration company who are dedicated to discovering and developing mineral deposits. They are best known for their flagship gold project, located near Leonora in Western Australia which they seek to further develop.
The Role
The Exploration Geologist will be responsible for carrying out drilling and other field-based activities related to exploration programs, while playing a crucial role in interpreting data and results. Additionally, they will oversee the execution of these exploration programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consult with the senior leadership team daily on the progress of exploration activities, including drilling.
- Supervise drilling operations, field technicians, and other contractors involved in exploration activities.
- Ensure that geological support tasks, such as sampling and dispatch functions, meet required standards, collaborating with Project and Senior Geologists.
- Monitor exploration program costs and contribute to achieving the most efficient outcomes by maintaining a database or spreadsheet of drilling and field activities, including costs, for use in monthly accounting, reporting, and invoicing.
- Provide data and text for periodic reports (weekly, monthly, and occasionally quarterly or annual) as well as special reports (e.g., Ore Reserve), and deliver completed reports.
The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Geology, preferably with Honours, and have over one year of experience in exploration and geology. They should have a proven ability to supervise drilling contractors. Experience with geographical information systems, QGIS is preferred, and ideally a basic understanding of geological modelling software such as Datamine or Leapfrog.
