The Opportunity
A key opportunity exists for an Environmental Manager to lead all environmental, approvals and ESG workstreams across a major gold development project.
Reporting to executive leadership, this role will act as the custodian of environmental compliance and performance, ensuring the project meets regulatory requirements, international standards and stakeholder expectations as it progresses from study through FID and into construction and operations readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead environmental strategy, approvals and compliance across the project lifecycle
- Manage environmental permitting processes and regulatory engagement
- Ensure alignment with international ESG standards and lender requirements
- Establish and implement Environmental Management Plans and systems
- Oversee environmental performance during construction activities
- Manage environmental risks, monitoring programs and reporting frameworks
- Support project financing through environmental due diligence processes
- Interface with government, regulators and community stakeholders
- Lead environmental reporting to executive leadership and Board
- Build and lead a high-performing environmental team
You are an experienced Environmental Manager with a strong background in mining or major infrastructure projects, and a proven ability to manage approvals, compliance and ESG performance on large-scale developments.
You will demonstrate:
- Proven experience managing environmental approvals and permitting processes
- Strong understanding of international ESG standards (IFC, Equator Principles)
- Experience operating across study, development and construction phases
- Ability to manage complex regulatory and stakeholder environments
- Experience working in remote or international jurisdictions
- Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement capability
