About the Company

With more than 50 years of history in Western Australia, our client is an established supplier of timber, hardware and building products across WA. The business is now looking to strengthen and modernise its distribution operations, creating an opportunity for an experienced Distribution Manager to drive performance, develop its people and improve the way the operation works.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to take ownership of an end to end distribution operation encompassing warehousing, inventory management, order fulfilment, despatch and delivery coordination. Reporting directly to the Head of People, Culture & Operations, the Distribution Manager will be responsible for strengthening workforce productivity, inventory accuracy, order fulfilment, delivery performance and cost efficiency.

A critical focus will be leading the transition from established paper-based and manual processes towards efficient, system-driven workflows, maximising the capabilities of the existing ERP platform. This is a hands on leadership role requiring someone who can develop working leaders, establish accountability and successfully lead people through meaningful operational change.

About You

The successful candidate will have strong commercial acumen with a clear focus on productivity improvement and cost control.
To be successful, the following will be required:
  • Sound experience improving workforce productivity, inventory accuracy, order fulfilment, delivery performance and cost efficiency.
  • Previously personally lead or played a substantial role in transitioning manual or paper-based processes into system-driven workflows
  • Strong people leadership capability, including developing working leaders, establishing accountability and manage performance and successfully lead teams through change.
  • Proven ability to improve the utilisation and adoption of an existing ERP, warehouse or inventory management system.
  • A visible, hands-on leadership style, comfortable working closely with operational teams while maintaining strong planning and management disciplines.
  • Strong continuous improvement capability, with experience identifying inefficiencies and delivering measurable, sustainable improvements.
  • Experience within building materials, timber, hardware, construction supply or a similar trade distribution environment would be highly regarded.
Importantly, this role requires proven leadership of an end-to-end warehouse and distribution operation.

Why This Role?

This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of an established operation and lead meaningful change, modernisation and continuous improvement across the business.
