About the City of Wanneroo
Located on the northern fringe of the Perth metropolitan area, the City of Wanneroo is one of Western Australia’s fastest growing and most dynamic local governments. The City’s diverse landscape combines urban, rural and industrial land uses with expansive natural bushland and state forest areas. Residential areas dominate the urban landscape, supported by a network of commercial centres and key employment hubs, such as the established Wangara Industrial Area and the emerging Neerabup Industrial Area. With a current population of over 236,000 and a median resident age of 33, the City of Wanneroo is a young and rapidly growing community. The City employs more than 1,000 dedicated staff who work collaboratively to deliver on Council’s vision of making Wanneroo an exciting and rewarding place to live, work and grow.
About the Position
Reporting to the CEO, the Director Planning and Sustainability plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of our rapidly growing City, guiding strategic land use, development and environmental initiatives that balance sustainable growth with the protection of our natural assets. Currently the City of Wanneroo has 68 active development fronts and is home to an enormous 40% of the State’s lot production. The successful candidate will inherit a high-performing team of 111 (FTE of 103.12), including five direct reports, with an excellent team culture.

In Return
A five-year contract is on offer, with a remuneration package of up to $311,050 per annum, which comprises a base salary, superannuation (including the option to co-contribute up to 15%) and a vehicle or vehicle allowance. You will also receive five weeks’ annual leave, plus 12 executive leave days.
