Our client is a leading provider of formwork, falsework/shoring, heavy-duty support, safety & access systems, who has a proven track record of supporting the global construction industry for almost a century to create some of the world’s most challenging and impressive structures.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Regional Manager, the Design Office Manager will lead the engineering and design function while converting customer enquiries into safe, commercially viable and technically sound solutions using formwork, shoring and scaffolding systems. The role will combine technical engineering expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring all designs comply with Australian Standards, engineering risk management procedures and company quality systems.
The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day operations of the regional design office, managing a small team of engineers and designers, coordinating project workflows, maintaining relationships with clients, consultants and internal stakeholders. Responsibilities will include reviewing and allocating design enquiries, producing and approving calculations and drawings, supporting the sales team on major infrastructure projects, and developing the capability of design staff through training and mentoring.
About you.
We are seeking a commercially minded engineering leader who has the following attributes:
- Degree-qualified Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineer, ideally CPEng and/or a member of Engineers Australia.
- Proven experience leading engineering and design teams within construction, infrastructure, temporary works or related industries.
- Strong technical understanding of formwork, shoring, falsework or scaffolding design and engineering principles.
- Commercially minded, with the ability to develop safe, practical and cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience working closely with clients, contractors and project teams.
