The Opportunity

WATC are seeking a passionate Corporate Financial Advisor to join their Advisory Services team. In this role, you will help enhance WATC’s services by delivering data analytics and visualisation insights to guide and improve decision-making for Western Australia’s economic future.
You will have the chance to contribute to the financial evaluation of key projects, explore alternative financing structures, and work with senior stakeholders across the finance industry. This role provides a unique blend of technical skill development and strategic influence, offering a platform for professional growth.
As a Corporate Financial Advisor specialising in financial data analysis and modelling, you will have experience in best-practice modelling with Microsoft Excel and solving complex financial problems. Exposure to Power BI would be an advantage.

Key activities include:
  • Working collaboratively with clients to support the financial analysis and evaluation of capital investment decisions, procurement decisions, and alternative financing structures.
  • Assisting in providing research analysis and advisory services to WATC and its clients in relation to capital investment and procurement decisions, based on sound financial and data analysis.
  • Maintaining an awareness of, or capability to analyse, financial topics including interest rates, inflation, credit, foreign exchange, commodity risk management, funding and/or the investment of funds.
  • Assisting in analysing client data to support WATC’s financial analysis roles, through collecting, cleansing, analysing, and presenting client data analysis results.
  • Supporting senior analysts to communicate clearly to clients in written, verbal or graphical form, the results of analysis including various outcomes under a range of scenarios.
  • Assisting the Advisory Services team to build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders within the finance industry.
  • Assisting in developing, maintaining and reviewing financial models used by Advisory Services or as requested by clients.
  • Undertaking research to support the development of Advisory Services’ strategic role in the Western Australian government sector.

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Experience in financial modelling, financial analysis and financial accounting
  • Exposure to commercial, infrastructure and investment projects
  • Ability to develop structured financial models
  • An understanding of the basics of corporate finance
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build client relationships and work within a team environment
  • A high level of intellectual curiosity and financial problem-solving capability
  • A flexible, ‘can-do’ approach to work.
