Pawsey Supercomputing Research Centre

The Pawsey Supercomputing Research Centre is one of Australia’s leading Tier-1 High-Performance Computing (HPC) facilities, accelerating groundbreaking scientific research that benefits the nation. As an unincorporated joint venture between CSIRO, Curtin University, Murdoch University, The University of Western Australia and Edith Cowan University, Pawsey plays a critical role in advancing discovery and innovation across a wide range of scientific domains.

As the Centre continues its trajectory of growth and national impact, they are seeking a dynamic and strategic Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join the executive leadership team. This newly created role will be central to ensuring operational excellence across all facets of the Centre's infrastructure, user engagement and service delivery. The COO will work in close partnership with the CEO and Chief Technology Officer, focusing on operational leadership, strategic execution, stakeholder communications, education and training initiatives, and performance oversight.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams across infrastructure, facilities, help desk, and service delivery, shaping the user experience from onboarding to advanced support. You will oversee the development of training programs, coordinate internal and external communications, and drive operational risk management and KPI performance across the organisation.

Pawsey is seeking candidates with a relevant degree or equivalent experience, proven success in senior operational and leadership roles, and a track record of delivering service excellence in complex or technical environments. Outstanding interpersonal, stakeholder, and communication skills are essential. Experience in research infrastructure, HPC environments, or public sector organisations is highly desirable but not essential.

Join a values-driven organisation committed to collaboration, inclusiveness, and societal impact. A competitive remuneration package will be offered to the successful candidate.
