THE ORGANISATION

Aboriginal Peak Organisations Northern Territory (APO NT) is an alliance comprising eight different entities and was created to provide a more effective response to key issues of joint interest and concern affecting Aboriginal people in the Northern Territory (NT). For almost 15 years APO NT has been instrumental in negotiating new ways forward for NT Aboriginal people and communities by influencing government ways of working to better respond to Aboriginal priorities and advocating practical policy solutions to government. As a recently incorporated organisation, APO NT is looking to appoint a CEO to continue the organisation’s mandate, to advocate for and advance the rights, health, and livelihoods of Aboriginal people in the NT.

THE ROLE

Reporting to, and working closely with the Board of Directors, the CEO will manage the day-to-day operations and 11 employees including three direct reports, and maintain established APO NT frameworks for involvement in policy and advocacy. The CEO will maintain a commitment to leading Aboriginal involvement in policy development and implementation, and to expanding opportunities for Aboriginal community control.

REQUIREMENTS

If you have reported to or worked with an Aboriginal Board of Directors, or equivalent, and experience advocating for Aboriginal people at a senior local, national and cross-jurisdictional level, we would be interested to hear from you. A track record of leading through significant and complex political contexts, change and growth, combined with high level visionary, strategic and authentic leadership skills, will ensure success in this role.

THE PACKAGE

In return you will receive a three-year contract and a competitive remuneration package of up to $200,000 plus superannuation plus vehicle or vehicle allowance.
